A senior consultant who stayed with us back in 2009 discussed the possibility of sending out senior medical students to work in the local village hospitals. This would also eventually roll out to qualified medical professionals who wanted to take a sabbatical. The initiative began in July 2011 with the arrival of Jas Sunner and Adam (“Ted”) Baker in Tent With A View, Saadani who worked in the Mkwaja Village hospital and Sarah Jarvis who stayed at our Sable Mountain Lodge in Selous and worked in Kisaki village hospital. Sarah also came back in December 2011 to see us and deliver a new microscope to the village hospital which she raised funds for. Jas, Ted and Sarah have done incredibly well preparing the ground for the future of the project and have already interviewed candidates for next year’s elective.
