A Tent With AView, together with the renowned Alfred Kikoti & TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks Authority) will, after several years in planning, commence a very exciting Saadani elephant project where we will collar up to 5 elephants in July 2010.
The largest concentration of elephants are situated in the Northern Mkwaja region of the park not far from Tent With a View. The project should provide a fascinating insight into the seasonal movements of the Saadani elephants, particularly one large resident group which can reach over 70 animals. These large creatures in such great numbers sometimes inevitably come into conflict with local farmers in the communities around the park. Monitoring these elephants should assist us in helping and finding a viable solution to this conflict whilst at the same time, providing us with important information on elephant biology and behaviour.
