Masa Kilanga
Masa is “all singing all dancing!” with over 23 years of guiding experience in Southern Tanzania, mainly in Selous & Saadani. Masa is also responsible for building Sable Mountain and Tent With A View. These days Masa is based in our Dar es Salaam office but tour leads family tours when he gets the chance. A true family man, Masa is dad to 5 daughters & 2 sons and granddad to “Masa 2”.
David Guthrie
David came to Tanzania to work as a safari guide in Selous in 1991 and has been based in Tanzania ever since. A few years ago, David visited Slovakia on a holiday which resulted in him starting a project with the High Tatras national park authorities collaring brown bears with GPS collars with a view to helping the park authorities to monitor bear movements and behaviour to find ways to avoid human/bear conflict in the region. Recently, David returned to Tanzania to be involved in the current elephant collaring project in Saadani National Park where he and wife Tara are now based.
Rama Mohammed
Rama is our oracle. It is amazing just how many facts are packed into Rama’s head. As our sales manager, Rama is based in the Dar es Salaam office. Rama is the first port of call for all those looking to book either one of the lodges or a tour with us in Southern Tanzania. Rama can tailor make tours including all transportation arrangements on the ground. He is also involved in marketing which takes him all over the world.
Mrisho Kilanga
Mrisho is the solid hand and brother of Masa who roams between the office, Sable Mountain & Tent With A View. Mrisho sometimes acts as stand-in manager at the lodges and is logistics & supplies manager. Mrisho is one of the key members of the team and is the friendly face who meets and greets many of our guests when they arrive in Tanzania.
Hassan Mwenjuma
Hasaan, (known affectionately as Kita) first met and worked with Masa and David in Selous in 1991 and has continued working with them since that time joining A Tent With A View when it started in 1995. Kita is our chief safari guide and our main tour leader for group tours through the season. Kita has vast experience guiding and was trained by David and Masa in Southern Tanzania mainly in Selous & Saadani. Kita also acts as assistant manager on occasion in Saadani.
John Giles
Johnny has been with us since 1996 and started working as a barman in our first Saadani lodge. Johnny moved with us to Tent With A View in Saadani and quickly progressed to food & beverage manager and is now our general manager at the lodge. Johnny is also qualified to take safaris as a guide in Saadani.
Gerald Chabai
Gerald is the newest addition to the team and is based in our wildlife research centre. Gerald graduated with a Diploma in Tourism from Shinyanga Musoma Utali College in 2010 and after working for several months with TANAPA in Saadani, he joined Tent With A View. Gerald is responsible for collecting all data from our Saadani elephant project which is then analysed by the Saadani elephant project team before preparing monthly reports for both TANAPA and ourselves.
Muba & Selei
Muba is our head chef at Tent With A View and together with his assistant Selei, he continues to delight and amaze with his wonderful array of meals produced from bush ovens.
