Kikoti, the renowned elephant expert starts his elephant project in early 2010, assisted by Tent With A View whereby he plans to collar 5 elephants with GPS-GSM collars. This should provide a fascinating insight into the seasonal movements of the Saadani elephants, particularly one large resident which can reach over 70 animals and can also therefore be very destructive to farmers in the communities around the park. Monitoring these elephants should help prevent conflict with the local community whilst giving important information on elephant biology.
